Wanneer Ek Bid

Luister tog na my woorde, Here,
hoor hoe ek sug.

                                        Ps 5:2

                                                 Rom 8:26-27

Die Gesprek

Elemente Uit Die Gesprek

"Powerlessness is our greatest treasure.
Don’t try to get rid of it. Everything in us wants to get rid if it.
Grace is sufficient for you, but not something you can understand.
To be in too big a hurry to get over our difficulties is a mistake
because you don’t know how valuable they are from God’s perspective,
for without them you might never be transformed as deeply and as thoroughly."

                                                                                        Thomas Keating

Musiek

“This is an old prayer it came to me to rewrite. It's about surrendering.”

                                                                                         Leonard Cohen

Die ou gebed waarna Leonard verwys is die tradisionele Joodse Reisigersgebed (Tefilat HaDerekh), wat gebid word voor die reis begin:

May it be Your will, Lord, our God and the God of our ancestors, that You lead us toward peace, guide our footsteps toward peace, and make us reach our desired destination for life, gladness, and peace. May you rescue us from the hand of every foe, ambush along the way, and from all manner of punishments that assemble to come to earth. May You send blessing in our handiwork, and grant us grace, kindness, and mercy in Your eyes and in the eyes of all who see us. May You hear the sound of our humble request because You are God Who hears prayer requests. Blessed are You, Lord, Who hears prayer.

Leonard kombineer egter hierdie ou Joodse gebed met Jesus se gebed in die tuin van Getsemane. Ons plaas dit in Engels omdat die verband met Leonard se If It Be Your Will dan duideliker na vore kom:

Father, if it is your will,
take this cup away from me;
nevertheless not my will,
but yours,
be done.

                                   Luk 22:42 (NKJV)

O my Father,
if this cup cannot pass away from me
unless I drink it,
your will be done.

                                   Matt 26:42 (NKJV)

Met liefde

Skuld as Motivering Die Gesprek Elemente Uit Die Gesprek ~ ❖ ~ "I am convinced that guilt and shame are never from God. They are merely the defenses of the False Self as it is shocked at its own poverty — the defenses of a little man who wants to be a big man. God leads by compassion toward the soul, never by condemnation. If God would relate to us by severity and punitiveness, God would only be giving us permission to do the same (which is tragically, due to our mistaken images of God, exactly what has happened!)." Richard Rohr                 ~ ❖ ~ "It is about as hard to absolve yourself of your own guilt as it is to sit in your own lap. Wrongdoing sparks guilt sparks wrongdoing ad nauseam, and we all try to disguise the grim process from both ourselves and everybody else. In order to break the circuit we need friends before whom we can put aside the disguise, trusting that when they see us for what we fully are, they won't run away screaming with, if nothing wors
