What The Mystics Know   2) We Don't Have To Be Perfect “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion?  Come to me.  Get away with me and you’ll recover your life.  I’ll show you how to take a real rest.  Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it.  Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.  I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.  Keep company with me  and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭28‬-‭30‬ ‭MSG                                The Conversation Elements From The Conversation ~ ❖ ~ Question of the Day: How does one incorporate imperfection? In a Navajo rug there is always one clear imperfection woven into the pattern. And interestingly enough, this is precisely where the Spirit moves in and out of the rug! Want my juk is draaglik en my las is lig.” ‭‭Matteus‬ ‭11‬:‭28‬-‭30‬ ‭AFR20‬ ‬                               Die Gesprek Elemente Uit Die Gesprek ~ ❖ ~ Question of the Day: How does one incorporate imperfection? In a Navajo rug there is always one clear imperfection woven into the pattern. And interestingly enough, this is precisely where the Spirit moves in and out of the rug! The Semitic mind, the Eastern mind (which, by the way, Jesus would have been much closer to) understands perfection in precisely that way. The East is much more comfortable with paradox, mystery, and non-dual thinking than the Western mind which ...

Rest Amidst A Busy Life   The Conversation  Elements From The Conversation  Music In die movie Shawshank Redemption , Andy (Tim Robbins) comes across a record with opera music in a box of donations to the prison library. Among the tracks on the record is also the Duettino Sull'aria (the letter duet) from Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro . In an act of defiance, he locks all the doors of the library and plays the aria over the central loudspeaker system. As if under a spell, all the prisoners stop whatever they are doing, and stare at the large loudspeakers overhead. Thinking back on this experience, Red (Morgan Freeman) says: “I have no idea to this day what those two Italian ladies were singing about. Truth is, I don’t want to know. Some things are better left unsaid. I’d like to think they were singing about something so beautiful, it can’t be expressed in words, and it makes your heart ache because of it. I tell you, those voices soared higher and farther t...

Van hierdie ervaring sê Red (Morgan Freeman): “I have no idea to this day what those two Italian ladies were singing about. Truth is, I don’t want to know. Some things are better left unsaid. I’d like to think they were singing about something so beautiful, it can’t be expressed in words, and it makes your heart ache because of it. I tell you, those voices soared higher and farther than anybody in ...

Elmarie se tuin in Pretoria  Elemente Uit Die G...

Being Still The Conversation As much as we love Barrowfield and our space, we are careful not to create the impression that you can only become quiet and be on a contemplative journey, in an isolated place, in nature, far from any human contact. To become still is possible for everyone, wherever you are. And it is not so much dependent on a quiet, peaceful environment (although it is definitely helpful), but it is more connected to a slower pace in general and an inner stillness. A disciplined daily practice, like meditation, is important in cultivating the latter. This past week we've been in Gauteng where we've experienced that firsthand. Also in the city garden of our friend, Elmarie. Different sounds, like traffic and power tools, can be heard in the background, but the experience of God is just as strong. In this week's blog post, we are saying the minimum. We want to encourage you to become quiet, wherever you are. If you want to use our videos in the process, you ...
