What The Die Mystics Know

Outside? No, inside

The Seventh Angel

In Circles In A Forest Daleen Matthee tells the following story:

When the earth was finished being created and man came to live on earth, the seven chief angels of heaven gathered to decide on a very serious matter. They had to decide where they could hide the power of God so that man would not get it too soon and misuse it.

The first angel suggested that they should hide it on the moon. Yes, on the moon, the others agreed. But the seventh angel said: No, man is clever. One day he will know how to get to the moon; we must look for another place.

At the bottom of the sea, where the sea is at its deepest, the second angel suggested. Yes, said the others. But the seventh angel stopped them again: Man is clever, he said, one day they will also search to the bottom of the sea.

Let us then hang it on the morning star, suggested the third angel. But the seventh angel stopped them again: One day man will go and search even to the morning star.

Then the others asked the seventh angel where he thought they should hide it? In the last place they would look, he said. Inside themselves!

Then, one day, you become aware of a longing for more, something that's missing. And you start searching.

Music

Everyone, or at least most of us, tries to love and find truth and freedom, peace. Even though life often confuses us.

The mystics have always known that the inner journey is not always neat and smooth. That we must not give up on the longing, but must also be gentle and patient. With each other, but especially with ourselves.

The way inward is not a race for super athletes; it is a journey. Where we sometimes feel as alone as a bird on a wire, as false as a drunk in a dark street, as brutal as a bull that gaffs and breaks. We are all just trying, in our own way, to be free.

With love. As always.

Skuld as Motivering Die Gesprek Elemente Uit Die Gesprek ~ ❖ ~ "I am convinced that guilt and shame are never from God. They are merely the defenses of the False Self as it is shocked at its own poverty — the defenses of a little man who wants to be a big man. God leads by compassion toward the soul, never by condemnation. If God would relate to us by severity and punitiveness, God would only be giving us permission to do the same (which is tragically, due to our mistaken images of God, exactly what has happened!)." Richard Rohr                 ~ ❖ ~ "It is about as hard to absolve yourself of your own guilt as it is to sit in your own lap. Wrongdoing sparks guilt sparks wrongdoing ad nauseam, and we all try to disguise the grim process from both ourselves and everybody else. In order to break the circuit we need friends before whom we can put aside the disguise, trusting that when they see us for what we fully are, they won't run away screaming w...
