From The Restory - Conversations On The Journey (194)

For The New Year (For the original photo - thank you to our friend Ben) Looking back, it was, among other things, Rilke’s year. Here at Die Restory we have talked about him, he has often surfaced in our reflections on something and he was brought in on a few occasions to serve in the Opening and Closing Prayers of our meditations. He speaks our language. And hopefully, over time, he has influenced our voice.   Against that backdrop, and with the gathering of bits and pieces of Rilke here and there, our message to you here at The Restory:     In The Doorway Of A New Year (With thanks to Rainer Maria Rilke)   At the turning of the year, we are invited not to rush ahead, but to live the questions a little longer.   To trust that what is unfinished, what feels unclear or tired, may still be quietly at work within us.   The new year does not ask for answers, only for presence. For a willingness to stay close to what is real — to the rhythms of...

Vanuit Die Restory - Gesprekke Tussen Reisgenote (194)

From The Restory - Conversations On The Journey (193)

A Christmas Story “Stay alert. This is hazardous work I’m assigning you.  You’re going to be like sheep running through a wolf pack,  so don’t call attention to yourselves.  Be as shrewd as a snake, inoffensive as a dove.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭10‬:‭16‬ ‭MSG‬‬                       CAROL OF THE FRIENDLY BEASTS Jesus, our brother, strong and good Was humbly born in stable rude And the friendly beasts around him stood, Jesus, our brother, kind and good. I, said the donkey, shaggy and brown, Carried his Mother uphill and down I carried her safe to Bethlehem town, I, said the donkey, shaggy and brown. I, said the cow, all white and red, Gave him my manger for his bed, I gave him my hay to pillow his head, I, said the cow, all white and red. I, said the sheep with curly horn, Gave him my wool to keep him warm, He wore my coat on Christmas morn, I, said the sheep with curly horn. I, said the dove, in the rafters high, Cooed hi...

‭‭Matteus‬ ‭10‬:‭16‬ ‭AFR20‬‬                     CAROL OF THE FRIENDLY BEASTS Jesus, our brother, strong and good Was humbly born in stable rude And the friendly beasts around him stood, Jesus, our brother, kind and good.   Glimmers From Another Angle “Do to others as you would have them do to you.” ‭‭Luke ‭6‬:‭31‬ ‭ NRSVUE‬‬                           ~ ❖ ~ A man walking through the forest saw a fox that had lost its legs, and he wondered how it lived. Then he saw a tiger come up with game in its mouth. The tiger ate its fill and left the rest of the meat for the fox. The next day God fed the fox by means of the same tiger.  The man began to wonder at God’s greatness and said to himself, “I too shall just rest in a corner with full trust in the Lord and he will provide me with all that I need.” He did this for many days but nothing happened, and he was almost at death’s door when he heard a voice say, “O you who are in the path of error, open your eyes to the truth! Stop imitating the disabled fox and follow the example of the tiger.” ~ ❖ ~ The Conversation Elements From The Conversation Music With our love. George & Matilda
