Notes from a different drummer
Learning the unforced rhythms of grace
Why should we be in such desperate haste to succeed, and in such
desperate enterprises? If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps
it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he
hears, however measured or far away.
Henry David Thoreau
Are you tired? Worn out?
Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your
life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me - watch
how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or
ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and
lightly."

Introduction
We have painted the bigger picture with the bird’s eye view.
Now we zoom in and have a closer look at the different aspects of that bigger
picture.
Why do it – this particular spiritual journey
with all its challenges and uncertainty?
We are
looking for something to help us hear the notes and teach us the unforced
rhythms of grace. There is a hunger within us, a longing for more than what we
find in religion and culture in general, the current meta narratives or
dominant discourses. We want to live freely and lightly, but also grounded and
connected.
What is it, that
something that helps?
From own
experience we have discovered that the following helps us: The creation-centered mystical tradition in its different
manifestations, but in our own case with a focus on the Christian contemplative
life.
